International applicants
General Information
When applying for a study place at HS Gesundheit, it is essential to know which applicant group you belong to.
Therefore, please read the corresponding information below carefully and follow the instructions to ensure that your application can be accepted.
International applicants in applicant groups 2 and 3 apply via uni-assist, which - like at many other German universities - is responsible for processing these applications.
They perform a central check on whether German university admission is possible.
In addition, when checking the degrees from your home country, your grade will be converted to the German grading system - after which the ranking list will be created.
The result of this check at uni-assist is transmitted electronically to HS Gesundheit after processing.
Please also check the required language skills in detail and apply via uni-assist.
Here are the detailed descriptions of the applicant groups:

Applicant group 1: Acquired university entrance in Germany
If you are a foreign national, but have obtained your university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur with school and practical part or a comparable domestic qualification) in Germanyor at a German school abroad, you are a so-called "Bildungsinländer" (foreign students with a German education).
The same conditions apply to you as for German university applicants with a German university entrance qualification.
Step 1: Study requirements
The next step is to decide which of the degree programmes at HS Gesundheit you are interested in - please note the differences and requirements!
You can find further information here.
Step 2: Application for a degree programme
Please use our online portal as soon as it is activated for application.
There you enter your personal data that is required for your application.
The application deadline here is 20.08. for NC bachelor's programmes for the winter semester 21/22!
The registration for admission-free programmes is possible until before the start of lectures!
The required knowledge of the German language will be proved by your certificate.
Applicant group 2: EU citizens / German applicants have equal status
Do you, your child or your parents have European citizenship?
Are you married to a citizen of an EU member state?
Or do you have a school or university degree from an EU member state (or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway)?
Then you qualify as a member of the EU and have therefore equal status with German applicants.
However, it must first be verified whether your educational qualification can be recognized or is equivalent to a German university entrance qualification.
Step 1: Study requirements
The next step is to decide which of the degree programmes at HS Gesundheit you are interested in. Please note the differences and prerequisites!
You can find further information here!
Step 2: Application for a study place:
NC degree programmes
You apply by 20.08. in the online portal of hsg. There you enter your (university entrance qualification) grade with 4.0.
For applications for a bachelor's degree programme with restricted admission, prior registration with the Foundation for University Admissions is also required.
Admission-free degree programmes
Registration in the HS Gesundheit online portal for admission-free degree programmes is possible up to the point that lectures begin! There you enter your (university entrance qualification) grade with 4.0.
However, please note the application deadline for your uni-assist application (20.09. for the winter semester 21/22)!
Additional registration with the Foundation for University Admissions is not required.
Step 3: Applying at uni-assist
After applying via the hsg online portal, you also apply to uni-assist.
Application deadline for NC degree programmes is 20.08.2021
Application deadline for free-admission degree programmes is 20.09.2021
Uni-assist checks your foreign certificates and converts your grade into the German grading system. This result will be communicated to hsg afterwards.
We will then change your grade from 4.0 to the calculated value.
If we determine that you do not have a university entrance qualification, we will block your application in the online portal of hsg. In this case, you will not be able to participate in the selection procedure for the coming semester.
Note:
Together with your application to uni-assist, you must submit one of the following language certificates. Without a language certificate, you will not be able to participate in the admission procedure.
Applicant group 3: Applicants outside the EU
Are you a citizen* of a country outside the EU (or Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and have acquired a foreign educational qualification there? You are also not married to an EU citizen? If so, you must first check whether this educational qualification can be recognized or is equivalent to a German university entrance qualification. This verification process is performed by uni-assist.
Step 1: Study requirements
The next step is to decide which of the degree programmes at HS Gesundheit you are interested in - please note the differences and requirements!
You can find further information here!
Step 2: Application for a degree programme
You apply to uni-assist via online application, transfer the required fee and submit your complete documents (officially certified copies of the original documents and translations).
After checking your documents, uni-assist can determine whether you have access to German universities.
At the same time, uni-assist converts your documents into the German grading system. This grade will be communicated to HS Gesundheit by uni-assist.
The selection of students can then take place.
However, if uni-assist determines that you do not have German university entrance qualifications, you will not be able to participate in the selection process for the coming semester.
The selection process
Within this quota (for international applicants in case group 3), the applicants who can be admitted are now determined.
This quota is made up of 7% of the places available for each of the degree programmes.
The criterion for this selection is the converted grade of the university entrance qualification.
The responses (admissions) will be sent out in mid-August at the earliest.
Applicant group 4: Germans with a foreign university entrance qualification (HZB)
If you are a German citizen and did not acquire your higher education entrance qualification (HZB) in Germany or at a German school abroad, it is necessary to have your foreign educational certificates recognized as a higher education entrance qualification during the application process.
The Zeugnisanerkennungsstelle (Certificate Recognition Office) in Department 48 of the Düsseldorf District Government is responsible for the formal recognition of the equivalence of foreign educational certificates with the German university entrance qualification for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia:
for German citizens with foreign educational qualifications who have their habitual residence (main residence) in North Rhine-Westphalia,
for German nationals with foreign educational qualifications who reside abroad alone and wish to study in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The recognition of certificates by the district government is free of charge!
Within the scope of this recognition, an overall grade will be determined if this is necessary for admission to a desired course of study in Germany and if a restriction on admission to the desired course of study is proven.
This is the grade you will then use to take part in the university's award procedure.
Please submit your application in the online portal.
Applications for recognition are always processed as quickly as possible.
Completely submitted applications may require a shorter or longer processing time than four weeks, depending on the work situation. In individual cases, processing may take longer. Please allow sufficient time.
You will receive an original paper certificate of recognition. The certificate of recognition issued is only valid in conjunction with the educational certificates listed there.
With this certificate you can apply to all universities in Germany.
You can find more information, the application form and contact persons on the website of the Düsseldorf District Government.
Information for refugees
Welcome to Germany!
Are you interested in studying at our Hochschule für Gesundheit?
"HZB" is an abbreviation for the German word for "university entrance qualification" [Hochschulzugangsberechtigung], i.e. whether your certificates entitle you to study in Germany. The HZB certificate contains information on the type of university entrance, the German grade equivalent and the certificates you have submitted. In other words, all information on the basis of which an assessment of the university entrance qualification (HZB) was made.
Apply in three steps free of charge via uni-assist:
1. You submit an online application for cost exemption for refugees.
Here you will find further information and the portal for cost exemption.
2. uni-assist checks the application and then sends you a confirmation by e-mail with your uni-assist applicant number.
3. Now you can apply to up to three universities per semester free of charge via the uni-assist online portal.
